Victorian:
As Jane Austen is the Regency era, Holmes is the Victorian era, defined by the reign of Queen Victoria from 1837 to 1901. Her father was Prince Edward, Duke of Kent and Strathearn, the fourth son of King George III, and she became queen after the death of her uncle, King William IV. Her reign saw rapid industrialization in England and labor unrest (she escaped several assassination attempts) and the enlargement of the British empire (she became Empress of India in 1876).
