The Heroine’s Bookshelf
Author Erin Blakemore knew how to appeal to her audience when she spoke about her recently published book, The Heroine’s Bookshelf: Life Lessons, from Jane Austen to Laura Ingalls Wilder, at the February meeting of the Denver/Boulder JASNA region.
After briefly speaking about the book (professing she was nervous but not betraying it), Blakemore cleverly compared Jane Austen fans to fans, or enthusiasts — there was some little debate during the question and answer period about the term fan — of the other authors and their literary creations she examines in her book. She judged Austen fans to be the most organized and also spoke of the enthusiasm of Laura Ingalls fan at Laurapalooza. Blakemore confessed that her favorite author was Charlotte Brontë and that the Jane Eyre chapter was the first she wrote.
You can find out more about Erin at her website.
PS I forgot to mention that excerpts (including the Jane Austen chapter) are available through Amazon and Barnes&Noble.
