The Palace series

I found The Palace on Hulu.com and was hooked, even though I knew the series lasted only one season with only eight episodes, but it was such an intriguing premise I couldn’t help myself.

The show follows a fictitious British royal family and the ascension of Prince Richard after the death of his father, King James III. I know it sounds bizarre, because we know the House of Windsor currently occupies Buckingham Palace, but for some reason this works. The producers apparently went for a West Wing approach, mixing lots of story lines and following people through hallways as the palace intrigues and political dramas affect the new king, his scheming sister, his drunken brother and his mourning mother.
