What I’m reading: A People’s History of London
Just after finishing Boris Johnson’s Life of London, I’m reading A People’s History of London, a more blatantly political look at the city that has always been a hotbed of radicals, including John Wilkes (also mentioned in Johnson’s book) and the riots of 2011 including the Occupy the London Stock Exchange movement. The authors, Lindsey German and John Rees, look to have put together a pretty dense history of protest, reform and outrage that should make a good, serious companion to Johnson’s fun book.
