Underwear podcast reveals all
Sorry, couldn’t help the headline, but there is a great new-ish podcast from Stuff You Missed in History Class about underwear, or specifically Queen Victoria’s 50-inch bloomers, pantalettes, chemises, corsets and those medieval bras that made headlines recently.
Host Sarah Dowdey and guest host Holly Frey (regular co-host Deblina Chakraborty is on maternity leave) discuss Bloomers and Beyond: A History of Underwear. And as mentioned, the topics include those medieval bras found in an Austrian castle, the problems that cloth cut on a bias might introduce in season three of Downton Abbey (actually they didn’t specifically mention Downtown Abbey), why bloomers were split in the middle and Sarah’s obsession with pantalettes.
