Talking like a Jane Austen character

I find myself talking like a Jane Austen character.

I recently had oral surgery and it has been a miserable ten days. I go today to have the stitches removed and only in the past day or so have I felt remotely human. A friend recently asked how I was feeling and I answered, “I am much improved, thank you.”

Please understand that I enjoy talking like a Jane Austen character but the responsibility of always finding the perfect bon mot in response to the most trivial of questions can be tiring.
