Pride and Prejudice, The Annotated:
What I’m reading
My husband just surprised me with a new annotated Pride and Prejudice, edited by Patricia Meyer Spacks.
I’m finding it enjoyable, if a crushing weight to read in bed. It’s quite a contrast to my annotated Holmes because it has far-reaching speculation on the motivations behind Austen and her characters, rather than just simple explanations of what what a chaise and four is. Although I don’t really think it necessary to explain what a fortnight is. But with education what it is, perhaps it is necessary.
